Parashah

The Torah, The Five Books of Moses, is divided into 53 portions. (Parashah – single, Parashot – Plural).

The 53 portions are divided into the weeks of the year, special designated reading for every week.

The cycle is completed on the same day worldwide – Simhat Torah. On the same day, the new cycle starts again by reading the beginning of the Book of Genesis.

Every week of the year in the Hebrew calendar is named after the Parashah being read on that week. The Parashah contains the spiritual forces we need in order to overcome the challenges of that week.

The whole Weekly Parashah is being read on Shabbat morning in every synagogue around the world.
